Breed: Quarter Horse
Bio: Sally is a 15yo Sorrel/Liver grade mare. Due to some arthritis, she would be best in a light riding home with an intermediate rider and handler. I have put two kids on her, my granddaughter who is 2 rode her bareback with one leading and one holding her, and Sally was perfectly calm. Also, an 11 yo intermediate rider, and again Sally was very calm and well behaved. I bought her over 1.5 years ago to be a trail horse, but I have not had the time to work with her that she needs. I ride her and work with her about once per week in my arena and on the trails and dirt roads around my neighborhood, as I have had trouble with her loading in the trailer. She has never bucked, crow hopped to anything like that, and is fun to ride as she is responsive and moves out nicely. She had an accident while being tied, so I usually put her on a blocker tie, but she is best ground tied, which I have been training her to do and she does pretty well! I sincerely believe that she would really come a long way if she were given the proper attention and training that she deserves, 3-4 times per week would be great for her. She loves attention and comes to me from the pasture, she's easy for me to catch, groom, saddle, loves to go for a hand walk down the road. Doesn't spook at cars, or dogs. I ride my atv around her all the time, and there are trucks, cars and motorcycles going by regularly, as well as low flying airplanes, so she's used to many noises. She really is a sweet sweet horse that just needs the right owner, one who wants to ride casually, and enjoys training and seeing the progress come along. Someone who has some experience, is patient and has a good way with natural horsemanship. She is not dominant here, as my gelding is pretty much the king around her, she got along with him from the first minute I put them together.
