Bio: Benny is a ten-year-old OTTB beautiful chestnut boy who we love. He was diagnosed with mild kissing spine last year and my daughter does some jumping, so we felt it best for him to be retired. Since we really couldn't justify the cost of surgery and the length of rehab things have changed, and we are no longer able to afford his boarding in Colorado, I'm trying to find him a great home where he only does flat trail work or a companion horse. He is an amazing boy.

Bio: Looking for your trail partner? Look no further! Bristol is a smart young mare and is progressing well under saddle. Don’t let her hear you say it, but she’s on the smaller side -- if you’re a lighter rider looking for a fun project, Bristol is your girl! She's a rockstar out on the trail, and does the best living with a smaller herd. This smart little lady also loves liberty work and is fun to play with on the ground.
Bristol is club-footed in both front feet, however, it has not limited her soundness as long as she receives knowledgeable, regular farrier care.

Bio: Charlie-Horse is an old goofy soul. He is a 19-year-old Standardbred that I don't know much about. I bought him and he was unfortunately foundered pretty severely in his right front hoof. He is such a simple kind horse who has some hilarious habits. He loves to bounce his head and stroll around his pen no matter how much affection he is getting. He is typically on the lowest part of the totem pole and tends to get picked on if he is in with dominant horses.
He would benefit greatly by being a little girl's horse to love on and groom. I do not recommend riding him or making him work though he can ride and drive very well. Again, he is very simple and direct reining is about as complicated as he gets. If you do ride him I recommend a short ride with a light rider would be best cause he can get sore.
I have a young horse that takes up most of my time now and I would love for him to get the love he deserves.

Bio: Chevy is a handsome, affectionate, good-natured QH who would make a great pasture pal for a senior horse or any kind of animal, as he is good with dogs, goats, peacocks, you name it. He is smart and willing. His feet are strong and he’s in good health. Though a laid-back personality, Chevy has a high startle reflex which has made his owner uncomfortable to ride him. He has good ground manners but has gotten wary of being saddled due to an incident when the saddle slipped under him. He stands well for the farrier, grooming, and baths. He loves the attention and will follow you around the corral or pasture. He loves nuzzles and stroking — he has had Masterson method body work and really likes it. A really good-hearted horse.

Diana has a rich and varied background — from her early days on the track to winning the Freestyle division at the National Thoroughbred Makeover and later competing in local eventing shows at the novice and training levels with my teenaged daughter. Energetic, intelligent, and full of personality, Diana thrives with consistent handling and attention. She does best with an experienced rider who can manage her sensitive back, weak stifles, and occasional bucking or spookiness when out of work.
As my daughter heads off to college, we’re searching for a knowledgeable and caring home where she can be appreciated for the special horse she is. Bio: On the ground, Gus is as sweet of a horse as they come. I practice doing my Equine message therapy on him, and he eats it up. He has been lame for over two years, and we did x-rays on him last summer. He has pretty severe early onset arthritis. Even with corrective shoeing and arthritis meds, we haven't been able to get him riding sound. As a riding horse he also has a little bit of a playful buck at the start of some rides when he is fresh, so he is NOT suitable for light beginner riding. He hasn't bucked any of my family off, but they are fairly experienced riders. You can get him to not buck if you lunge him first, but you have to work him harder than his joints are comfortable.
Again, his strength is his ground manners and companion ability. In our herd of about twenty horses he is very low on the pecking order and is a very sweet horse to other horses. Last year we kept him in for the winter (he needs some alfala in the winter) with the young weanlings and he was a great companion with them.
We run cows on a large cattle ranch, and he really can't complete the work out here. He is fine here for the time being (especially since he makes a good practice massage horse) but I would like to see if we can find a companion home where he will get more love.

Bio: Meet Sparrow! This refined young Arabian is as people-oriented as they come and continues to impress us with her gentle, willing nature. She’s built a lovely foundation in her groundwork and enjoys learning, but we’ve discovered that a non-riding future will be the best fit for her. Sparrow is now seeking a home where she can shine as a cherished companion. She is easy to handle, polite for the farrier, and truly thrives with consistent, kind interaction. This bright young mare will make a wonderful partner for anyone looking to add a sweet, steady presence to their herd.

Bio: Spartan is the sweetest boy. He is kind to all humans and all horses. He has pretty severe DSLD in both hind legs that has put him into retirement over the last couple of years. His DSLD has not affected his quality of life since he became a companion horse. His teeth are virtually all gone at this stage and he is on a mash diet. Currently, he gets 6 pounds of safe choice Senior and 4 pounds of hay/alfalfa pellets soaked morning and night. He is up to date on vaccinations, dental care, and hoof care.. He currently lives in Loveland.

Bio: Sunny is a stunning flaxen sorrel gelding standing approximately 17 hands tall. He’s a kind, sensitive horse who has survived a difficult past and is slowly learning to trust again. Once part of the rodeo world and later sent to auction, Sunny came to me fearful and unhandled — but with daily quiet care, he now eats from my hand and shows a genuine curiosity toward people. He is not yet halter broke and remains fearful of ropes and restraint, so he will need a patient, experienced person committed to gentle groundwork and long-term trust building. He gets along beautifully with other horses and has a naturally calm, sweet nature once he feels safe. Physically, Sunny is healthy and sound, but emotionally he’s still healing. It’s unclear whether he’ll ever be fully rideable, so his best future might be as a companion horse or a very slow, low-pressure project for someone who understands trauma recovery in horses. Sunny deserves a kind, quiet home where time, consistency, and love matter more than goals or timelines. If you have the patience and heart to continue his journey, Sunny will reward you with the trust of a truly special horse.

Bio: Leggy young Thoroughbred with an endearing personality! Swift has been a delight to be around ever since his little hooves set down at CHR. Since then, he has grown by leaps and bounds both physically and mentally. Curious and eager to please, Swift picks things up quickly and already has a nice manner on the ground. Swift is just getting started under saddle and is already a natural. If you're looking for a young, well minded Thoroughbred to train up -- this could be your match!

Bio: Sky is the limit for this adorable pony! Taco loves liberty work and learning tricks. He is thriving under saddle after gaining a refresher in training, and has even started popping over some small cross rails.
Taco went through a rehabilitation program at CHR upon arrival, working through lameness in his front feet due to poor hoof care and nutrition. Now, Taco is strong and sound and ready to take on the world! He does require a wedged shoe with pads on his front feet. With good care, he is sound under saddle and living in a large pasture.

Bio: Trouble is a 10yo OTTB standing at 15.2. He has done a bit of everything- including trail riding, camping, arena work, and even working around cattle. He is a forward ride and would make a good long-distance trial partner. He is a gentleman for all groundwork and general care tasks. He would excel at a home that is interested in trail riding, liberty, groundwork, and/or flatwork in the arena.
Trouble is shod in the front only currently. He has received hock and stifle injections to help with comfort in higher-impact arena work.

Bio: Vanya is calm, gentle, and thoughtful, with a sweet and patient nature. She was born with a spinal defect, which means she **cannot be ridden**, but she has a great quality of life as a non-riding horse and would make an **amazing companion to both horses and people**. On the ground, Vanya is an absolute dream. She’s easy to catch, polite, and attentive to her handler. She is easy going with other horses, and enjoys kicking up her heels out in her shared pasture. Vanya is ready for a loving home where she can enjoy turnout, grooming, and leisurely walks with her favorite person.

Breed: Haflinger
Bio: Violet is a coming 20 year old (April 29) Haflinger mare who stands about 14 hands tall. I got her 3 years ago but soon after she started to be on and off lame and we tried a lot of things to remedy the issue (x rays, shoes, etc) but after a great trail ride she injured her tendon and even with stall rest she's not sound, even though an ultrasound revealed that her tendon has healed. So i am not chasing the issue any longer and retire my horse from riding. Due to her having Cushing's disease (what actually affects tendons and ligaments) she probably won't be sound enough to ride. She does not show lameness at a walk and could tote a small kid around but I am trying to find her a companion home only. I have now a new horse I can ride but don't have enough money to board both of them and the current boarding situation (hilly) is not favorable for Violet. She's a sweet horse, bottom of totem pole, stands for vet and farrier (barefoot), up to date on all shots and teeth floating. I am very attached to her so i don't want to surrender her necessarily, I just don't have the space or money to keep her. I would still pay for her daily Cushing's pill (Prascend) and need to be able to visit every once in a while. Violet will most likely move to Nunn (Fort Collins area) mid April to a pasture only boarding facility but she most probably won't be loved on each day and that's what i want for her as well, horses and people!
I have hundreds of pictures of her and you can ask me anything about her!
