Bio: The CHR team knew we had to give Agatha and Violet the safe landing they deserved when seeing them at auction. Both were discarded at auction underweight, neglected, and in need of lots of TLC. The pair have come around to people in huge ways and are starting to enjoy grooming, turn-out sessions, and going for walks around the CHR property. Ideally, these two would find a loving, mini-experienced adopter who will help them continue to see that people can be kind.

Bio: Personality plus!! Alonso has gained great groundwork skills while at the rescue and gets along well with other horses - especially other young, playful colts and fillies. Alonso has an affinity for liberty work, and we will continue to teach him new skills while he waits to find his people. This goofy colt is full of personality and loves people. We can't wait to see him thrive in his forever home!

Bio: April came to CHR from a livestock auction where she had been discarded with a shoulder injury as a yearling. Now, she is gaining confidence with the halter and leading and is continuing to grow into a big girl!

Bio: Arlo is full of potential! This young giant is doing well in training with a consistent schedule and a highly educated rider. Arlo has a great mind at his age, and will thrive with a trainer who has OOTB experience to keep him on a positive path. Arlo is not always aware of his size being so young, and would not thrive with an inexperienced home.

Bio: Named for Colorado’s golden groves, Aspen is a stunning Paint gelding looking for a partner as sensitive as he is. While Aspen has had plenty of experience being ridden, he will need an educated and patient adopter to bond with if riding is the goal. Aspen is a beautiful soul who will flourish when he finds his perfect partner.

Bio: Looking for your trail partner? Look no further! Bristol is a smart young mare and is progressing well under saddle. Don’t let her hear you say it, but she’s on the smaller side -- if you’re a lighter rider looking for a fun project, Bristol is your girl! She's a rockstar out on the trail, and does the best living with a smaller herd. This smart little lady also loves liberty work and is fun to play with on the ground. Bristol is club footed, however, it has not limited her from a soundness standpoint. She does great barefoot and is an easy keeper.

Bio: Chet brings the big gelding energy with his calm demeanor and sweet personality. He has shown himself to be pleasant and willing on the ground with our trainers. Due to physical limitations, he has been retired as a riding horse. Big Chet is an easy keeper who avoids drama out in the pasture. Requires front shoes to stay comfy. 

Bio: This sweet older mare has wisdom galore to share with a family looking for their first or 20th horse. This horse has been very well loved and cared for throughout her life and is simply looking for a loving retirement home where she can be spoiled through the end of her life.

Bio: Corazon will steal your heart! This handsome horse has a solid start in training, and will thrive with someone looking for a fun project horse. Corazon is healthy and has a great mind. He is suitable for most activities under saddle, and just needs an advanced handler to help him thrive!

Bio: Meet Dynamo! This sturdy three-year-old pony has proven himself to be a playful, willing youngster with a great brain and an endearing personality. From liberty to groundwork under saddle, he has taken each new challenge in stride. Dynamo will excel in a setting where he can play and learn. Trainer needed to reach his full Pony Potential if adopted by Intermediate or Advanced handler. The sky is the limit for Dynamic Dynamo!

Bio: Flashy, sweet and gaited! Eclipse is an energetic Tennessee Walker with a good riding foundation. Her best match is someone with advanced-level horsemanship skills who understands or is familiar with gaited horses. A skilled, patient and relaxed rider would be the best match for Eclipse. Lots of trail riding experience in her background, just needs to keep to easy surfaces, and shorter rides. She requires some maintenance and a proficient farrier to keep her at her best.  

Bio: Hi, I'm Ellie! Ellie recently returned to CHR from a loving foster home where she provided companionship to a horse in need through the end of their life. She gets along well with both mares and geldings, and would love to join you for long walks and grooming sessions. Ellie loves people and has a goofy personality that enriches the lives of the people and equines around her.

Bio: With her dramatic markings and willing personality, Everest lives up to her lofty namesake. She is coming along nicely in training and would excel with a trainer-level adopter in search of a promising project. She is well-started under saddle and ready to go in a number of directions. Curious, sensitive and smart, here is a young mare with high-altitude potential!

Bio: Halo has been such a pleasant surprise for the team here at CHR! She came to us neglected, frightened and almost impossible to handle. Since then, she has settled in and is thriving in her training sessions. Her favorite thing in the world? Positive reinforcement in the form of pets and scratches! Requires shoes and pads.

Bio: It is impossible not to fall in love with Harry! Harry Trotter recently returned to CHR from a wonderful foster home experience with one other horse. He enjoyed spending relaxing hours with his foster family, grazing down pastures at the neighbor's house and learning about other farm animals on the hobby farm. Harry gets along well with mares and geldings and is ready to find a loving, permanent home. Requires front shoes.

Bio: Henrietta is enjoying her well-earned retirement from a dude ranch. She prefers a peaceful, relaxed environment and does well in a small group of mares. Requires front shoes to stay sound. 

Bio: From the tips of his hooves to the cheeky tilt of his head, Hondo is a loveable youngster with personality to spare. He’s halter broke, leads politely and is ready to learn and grow with the right person. As a smart unstarted yearling, Hondo needs an adopter with training experience to show him the ropes. Need another reason to meet him? Just look at that stunning bay roan color!

Bio: Sweet, safe, and oh-so-cute, Indigo is a retired dude ranch gelding with a gorgeous blue roan coat and a heart of gold. This older gentleman is polite on the ground and enjoys going for long walks with our volunteers. Indigo had to have an eye removed upon arriving at the rescue, and has adapted well to one-eyed life. However, we've decided re-learning being a one-eyed riding horse may be too big of an ask for this golden oldie. He is looking for a loving retirement home that can offer him a gentle, consistent environment.

Bio: Jasper is in need of a knowledgeable, Mule-experienced home. This older gentleman was impounded by law enforcement in need of medical care and training. He is still learning to trust that people can be good in his life, and will need an adopter who understands the Mule mindset. Jasper will only go to a home that is experienced with Mules and/or Donkies and will need a companion Mule to live with.

Bio: Juliette came to CHR from a dude ranch and is looking for a loving retirement home. This adorable palomino is super nice to be around and has gotten along well living with most other horses. Juliette is an easy keeper and does well barefoot. She is non-riding due to a keratoma in one of her hooves. As a non-riding horse, she is unaffected by this condition, but we have disqualified her from riding due to it. If you're in need of an easy keeping, easy going buddy for your horse, Juliette could be your girl!

Bio: Kimber is in need of a soft place to land after a lifelong dude ranch career. This gentle mare experienced an injury to one of her front legs that causes her to have an asymmetric gait and confirmation, however, she will impress you as she gallops around with the herd on fresh mornings. Kimber is a total sweetheart, and would benefit greatly from a loving retirement home.

Bio: Sky is the limit for Lancelot! This horse has a good foundation under saddle and is ready to refine his skills with an educated rider. Lancelot is very smart and has a steady mind. He takes to new skills well, and is currently working on learning how to effectively use his muscles to bend and carry himself appropriately. If you love an OOTB, you will LOVE Lancelot!

Bio: Meet Mac. This young horse, rescued at auction, is fond of humans and has a great start in training. He has a nice foundation that could allow Mac to go in any direction. Athletic young horse!

Bio: Kind Maeve came to CHR from a private owner in need. This horse has gone through a full body transformation since arriving at the rescue, and we are loving seeing her personality come out more every day. Maeve can be unsure of herself away from the herd at times, but is learning to look to her handler for confidence. She gets along well with other horses, mares and geldings alike.

Bio: Come meet this easy-keeping, athletic gelding! Micah was previously unhandled before coming to the rescue and has been a star student within our training program. At 18 years old, Micah is healthy, super smart, and looking for a non-riding companion home. He thrives on pasture with other geldings, and would be a terrific liberty horse! Barefoot.

Bio: This lovely 14-year-old gelding shines under saddle! Moon has had one of his eyes removed but is truly unaffected by the change. Barefoot, young, and smart, he is confident as a riding horse and sweet on the ground. You’re sure to fall for his well-trained charm and classic Arabian look!  

Bio: Goofy Murtaugh is sure to make you smile with his antics. Since coming to CHR scared and underweight, this cute bay gelding has relaxed enough to let his silly, playful nature shine through. Murtaugh is pleasant on the ground and loves interacting with people. Halters, leads and stands for the farrier. Requires front shoes.

Bio: Personality plus! Nickers is a one eyed wonder. This horse is super sweet and personable and a great buddy to other horses. He has some physical limitations which is why he is looking for a loving retirement home. Look into his big beautiful eye and you're sure to fall in love!!

Bio: Noelle is a smart, sensitive filly in search of a trainer to set her on the right path. Bright red with a sprinkling of freckles in her blaze, this special girl has had a great start here at CHR. She halters, leads and stands for the farrier, but is otherwise a clean slate with nice size and a good attitude in training. She is just coming three years old and is doing some growing up to do. Bio: Paisley came to CHR from a law enforcement seizure in need of medical care and groceries. She is now at a healthy body weight and we are enjoying getting to know her better! She has surprised us with her skills under saddle, and we're excited to keep learning more about this gorgeous horse. While it is clear Paisley has training under saddle, it seems it's been some time since she's flexed those muscles. At this time, we have listed her as an advanced riding horse while she is remembering her riding skills.

Bio: Everyone adores this peachy-keen mare with her soft eyes and warm disposition. After a long career as a dude ranch professional, Peach has settled into a comfortable retirement. Take her home and enjoy having a sweet treat in your pasture every day. Requires daily grain to stay in tip-top condition. 

Bio: My name is Ragnar and I am indeed a warrior horse. My previous life was as a bucking horse on the rodeo circuit until I got smart and quit bucking. I was fired from that job and ended up at the auction as a throw away horse. CHR, lucky for me, was there that day, bought me, and brought me to the rescue. I'm losing my fear of people but still tend to overreact to almost anything and everything. Patience and talent will be needed by my adopter. Resources and more than one trainer may be needed - but they think I'm worth all the effort and I couldn't agree more!

Bio: Ranger is ready to find his new home! This big guy is getting a solid start under saddle in our training program and is nice to handle on the ground. Ranger came to CHR from a dude ranch where he just wasn't a fit for the string. He will thrive with a confident handler who is looking for a young horse to raise up in training and build a relationship with.

Bio: Roland is a sensitive gelding who is successfully re-learning trust and confidence at CHR! An easy keeper, Roland loves playing with his pasture mates and has learned to love his people while at the rescue. We have found that saddle work causes Roland an immense amount of anxiety and will be placing him in a non-riding home for his well being.

Bio: Rowan is thriving in our training program! Rowan has lots of skills under saddle and could take his skills in lots of different directions. He is super smart and lots of fun to work with!

Bio: Hi I'm Rudy! I am a former dude ranch horse from Montana and I am looking for a loving retirement home. I'd love to be groomed daily and go for long walks with my new owner. Give me a chance, I am a total sweetheart!

Bio: Sapphire is a healthy former broodmare learning to connect with and trust her people. Sapphire would make a great project horse for someone looking for their next heart horse. Sapphire is being placed as a non-riding horse and would love to find someone she can connect with on the ground and learn fun tricks with.

Bio: This former dude ranch horse is looking for a person to call her own! Silver is a super sweet mare with lots of experience under saddle. This horse has hit the trail for most of her life and is ready for a lighter workload. She has some quirks and habits we're working on from being a career dude ranch horse, but overall will be a wonderful partner to the right person.

Bio: Meet Sparrow! This refined young Arabian is fond of humans and has a great attitude in training. We've established a nice foundation that will allow this smart, athletic young lady to go any direction you choose! She spent some time in a foster home where her foster mom did a few first rides on her. She is easy to handle and stands for the farrier. As a growing filly, she requires grain to support her development.

Bio: Sriracha is a big love bug! This adorable gelding is easy keeping and loves other horses, mares and geldings. He has a heart murmur that limits him from being a riding athlete, however, his personality will add so much value to your herd! If you're needing a buddy for your horse, a fun liberty horse, or just a sweet horse to take for walks...Sriracha could be your guy.

Bio: Leggy Thoroughbred yearling with an endearing personality! Swift has been a delight to be around ever since his tiny little hooves set down at CHR. Since then, he has grown by leaps and bounds both physically and mentally. Curious and eager to please, Swift picks things up quickly and already has a nice manner on the ground. He’s waiting patiently for a colt starter to pick up his education and take him to the next level! Easy to catch and halter, he’s also been trimmed several times by our farriers.  

Bio: Theory is ready to find a loving retirement home. This easy keeping gelding would love to find a soft, consistent environment with people who love him. Theory would do great living with most other horses and loves learning tricks with his people.

Bio: This special horse came to the rescue from a dude ranch. Through his initial medical exam, it was found that Thunder has a special heart. Thunder's heart has an "irregularly irregular" arrhythmia that holds him back from a future riding career. However, it doesn't hold him back from being a playful, outgoing, handsome fellow who would love to join the right herd! Thunder is otherwise an easy keeping horse and will thrive with a knowledgeable handler as he is still a youngster. Thunder is fast learning and would call himself a "pocket pony." He is gaining confidence and enjoying working with his people!

Bio: "I purchased Morgan 3 years ago, planning to do lower-level eventing (jumping and dressage); however, approximately 6 months into our partnership, he started showing intermittent lameness. He was eventually diagnosed with bilateral suspensory desmitis. Based on this diagnosis, it was recommended that he not jump anymore, regardless of rehab outcome. I have diligently rehabbed him; however, after working with vets and following their rehab plan over the past two years, he is still not fully sound. At this point, it does not seem to be coming from his suspensory ligaments; however, we have been unable to pinpoint what seems to be bothering him. His options would be to either retire him to a home with lighter and easier riding expectations or extensive workups and more rehab, which may or may not help determine the cause of his discomfort or resolve it. Along the way we have done some joint injections with limited improvement (hocks, right stifle and SI joints), as well as Adequan injections and joint supplement. The SI joint injections seemed to make the most difference, so it may be advisable to continue on an as needed basis. It has also been recommended that he start Equioxx. During most of his rehab, he has been ridden; however it has been controlled and limited to walk and some trot. Other than that, he is an easy keeper.  His ideal home would be with someone experienced, confident and calm with horses. He has a ton of personality and does best with someone who can set and enforce expectations. He can get nervous if he’s unclear of what’s being asked, and will look for or make up excuses (e.g., I'm not so sure about that pole, I’m not sure I can move my body that way, let me do something else instead), so he needs someone who tolerates that easily and can redirect (unfortunately, I just get nervous).  He loves being around other horses and tends to be toward the top of the pecking order (especially with food). He doesn’t bully or pick on other horses, but does stand his ground. He has been in a variety of living situations since I’ve had him: shed with run, stall with run, stall with daily turn-out, and pasture with 3 buddies (mixed and all gelding herd). He has done well in all living situations, but he definitely prefers living in the pasture with his herd.   Vices: He is impatient. He can paw in the crossties for attention or might kick at the stall when it’s his turn to go out, or if his person is standing in front of his stall and ignoring him. Although not a vice, he does take some time to settle into new situations. He is very observant, not naturally confident and can spook at something new, but with a confident human and time to process, he does well. The one exception we have found, he is legitimately afraid of motorcycles."
