Bio: Alaska is a wonderful little pony looking for a retirement home. She has been a kids lesson horse for many years and has told us loud and clear that she is no longer happy with that job. Alaska is healthy, an easy keeper, and really enjoys spending time with her people on the ground. She will be a great addition to her new herd!

Bio: Sweet and sensitive Aspen is looking for a loving retirement home after a long riding career. Aspen will need a kind and gentle adopter who can help build his confidence in his new home. While he starts out a bit shy, Aspen bonds to his people deeply and enjoys going for walks in hand as well as learning liberty tricks. Aspen gets along great with other horses and would make a wonderful addition to the right herd, or to a lonely horse needed a kind friend.

Bio: Baloo is a young, athletic gelding looking for a trainer to continue his training. Currently, Baloo is gaining groundwork skills and learning to trust people. This flashy gelding came from a livestock auction untouched and will need a skilled trainer to bring him along. Baloo is curious, smart, and will make the right person an incredible partner.

Bio: This beautiful Saddlebred mare was re-homed with CHR in 2014 after her owner lost the financial ability to care for her. She enjoys being patiently brushed and is always eager for human attention. Due to previous harsh training that she experienced, it is in Blue’s best interest to live the rest of her life comfortably as a non-rideable, companion horse.

Bio: Looking for your trail partner? Look no further! Bristol is a smart young mare and is progressing well under saddle. Don’t let her hear you say it, but she’s on the smaller side -- if you’re a lighter rider looking for a fun project, Bristol is your girl! She's a rockstar out on the trail, and does the best living with a smaller herd. This smart little lady also loves liberty work and is fun to play with on the ground. Bristol is club-footed in both front feet, however, it has not limited her soundness as long as she receives knowledgeable, regular farrier care.

Bio: Callie is looking for a quiet environment where she can feel at home. Callie does the best with other easy going, gentle horses - much like herself. She is blind in one of her eyes, so a consistent environment will serve her well. Callie loves being groomed and spending time with people. She is a lovely horse to spend time with, and will make a great buddy to both horses and people.

Bio: Chet brings the big gelding energy with his calm demeanor and sweet personality. He has shown himself to be pleasant and willing on the ground with our team. Due to physical limitations, he has been retired as a riding horse. Chet has done great out on pasture with other horses and would be a wonderful addition to most herds. Requires front shoes to stay sound.

Bio: Cleo is ready to find her forever home. This horse came to CHR through an animal control seizure and has had a major glow up physically and mentally while at the rescue. Cleo is now healthy and ready to find a loving retirement home. She is barefoot and gets along great with mares and geldings in a pasture setting.

Bio: All around good guy, Colonel is looking for his forever home. This gelding is kind natured and very experienced under saddle. Colonel has experience with both youth and adult riders, and will do best living in a gelding-only environment.

Bio: While continuing to learn new skills and manners on the ground, this former lesson horse is looking for a retirement home. Dancer is always looking for the right answer during training, however, from her career as a kids lesson horse, she has had to unlearn some behaviors from poor handling in the past. Dancer is a super sweet horse who simply has had some rough handling, and deserves a home where she will be valued and respected.

Bio: Meet Grande Warrior (“Diana”), a striking Thoroughbred mare looking for a special new home. Diana has a rich and varied background — from her early days on the track to winning the Freestyle division at the National Thoroughbred Makeover and later competing in local eventing shows at the novice and training levels with my teenaged daughter. Energetic, intelligent, and full of personality, Diana thrives with consistent handling and attention. She does best with an experienced rider who can manage her sensitive back, weak stifles, and occasional bucking or spookiness when out of work. As my daughter heads off to college, we’re searching for a knowledgeable and caring home where she can be appreciated for the special horse she is. She still has much riding potential if in the right hands. We’re based in Fort Collins, Colorado, and are open to discussing any thoughtful placement where Diana can live a safe and fulfilling life.

Bio: Lovely Lady is ready to find a retirement home. Lady enjoys spending time with people on the ground and gets along well with other horses. After a long riding career, this big beautiful gal is graduating to retirement and will make a great companion to both people and horses in a new home.

Bio: Meet our lovely filly! Recently arrived from the auction, she is just beginning her journey with people and is already showing a bright, curious spirit. She’s halter trained and gaining confidence every day as she learns that humans can be safe, consistent partners. With time and patient handling, this sweet youngster will continue to blossom. She’s looking for an adopter who enjoys bringing along a young horse and can offer the steady guidance she deserves. This special filly is ready for a fresh start and a future full of possibility.

Bio: Lyla is looking for a trainer to bring her along under saddle. This younger mare is successfully learning to trust her people, relax in ground work, and wear a saddle. We can't wait to see how this stocky pony progresses in the right home!

Bio: Marco is the perfect gentleman looking for a family to call his own! Marco can do some leadline activities with kids, but is primarily looking for a retirement home due to use-related arthritis in his hind end. This gelding has a lovely temperament and would be a great addition to most herds.

Bio: This Arabian gelding is ready to find a forever home. Moon has lots of potential as a trail horse for the right rider. This one eyed wonder is barefoot, healthy, and smart, he is growing his confidence as a riding horse and sweet on the ground. You’re sure to fall for his charm and classic Arabian look!  

Bio: Nigel would love to join your herd! This sweet gelding is an overall easy keeper and enjoys his time both turned out with his horse buddies, and going for walks around the property with people. Nigel is personable, well trained, and at 24 is still playful and lively in his herd.

Bio: Lovely and personable mare who would enjoy a family of her own who wants to spend time grooming her. Can also provide the kids with a lead line experience with supervision.

Bio: Gentle giant, Piper, is looking for a soft place to land after a long riding career. Piper is currently doing well living with a herd of older geldings, but would benefit from a smaller, soft environment where he doesn't need to compete for resources. Piper is a total gentleman and loves people.

Bio: Popcorn is ready to be your new riding companion! This pocket pony is educated under saddle and will do best with an advanced rider, or an intermediate rider who has the support of a trainer. Popcorn is sweet, curious, and full of personality. He loves to investigate new things and picks up training with ease. He has been refining his arena skills, proving to be a joy to ride with a beautiful canter! Popcorn has been off property twice with CHR. He loads and travels like a pro and handles busy environments with confidence.  Popcorn wears shoes with pads on his front feet. 

Bio: This draft-cross mare came to CHR after a career on a dude ranch and is ready for her next chapter as a non-riding companion. She shows signs that she may have a driving foundation and could be a project for someone experienced in driving. Poppy is cautious with new people but opens up once you've gained her trust. With consistent handling and a quiet environment, she settles well and would make a steady companion for the right home.

Bio: After an injury, Quill is graduating to an early retirement. He is very sweet and lovely to be around. Quill is young and playful, and would make a great addition to many herds. This youngster loves people and would enjoy learning liberty skills, and going to in-hand walks with his person. Whether you're looking for a companion for yourself or for your horse, Quill just might be your guy.

Bio: My name is Ragnar and I am indeed a warrior horse. My previous life was as a bucking horse on the rodeo circuit until I got smart and quit bucking. I was fired from that job and ended up at the auction as a throw away horse. CHR, lucky for me, was there that day, bought me, and brought me to the rescue. I'm losing my fear of people but still tend to overreact to almost anything and everything. Patience and talent will be needed by my adopter. Resources and more than one trainer may be needed - but they think I'm worth all the effort and I couldn't agree more!

Bio: Ranger is a handsome, loveable boy who recently became lame (the first time in the 5 years I've owned him). He is showing improvement after three weeks of Previcox but his future as a riding horse is uncertain, which is why I'm listing him only as a companion horse at this time. When sound, Ranger is excellent on trails, either alone or with one to two other horses. He does well in a herd and is generally agreeable around all other horses. He is very responsive to people and would make a lovely companion! I am looking for a new home for Ranger because I recently bought a new horse. Feel free to contact me for more details. Bio: At 28, this Arabian mare still has lots of life to enjoy! Raven is a lovely mare to be around and has done great in our volunteer handling program with beginner to intermediate horse handlers. Raven is ready to find a loving retirement home after a long riding career. Raven eats a little grain every morning to ensure she is getting the calories she needs throughout the day, but is otherwise an easy keeper!

Bio: Roland is a sensitive gelding who is successfully re-learning trust and confidence at CHR! An easy keeper, Roland loves playing with his pasture mates and has learned to love his people while at the rescue. We have found that saddle work causes Roland an immense amount of anxiety and will be placing him in a non-riding home for his long term well being.

Bio: This morgan cross is looking for an engaging non-riding home to call his own. Rowan is super smart and enjoys working with people. He has gotten along well with other horses in pasture, and can be playful with the younger geldings. Rowan would take well to learning some liberty skills and/or other mentally enriching activities.

Bio: This classy Arabian mare has returned from foster care and is ready for her next chapter as a companion-only horse. She carries the bright, sensitive temperament typical of her breed and does best with a calm, confident handler. She fits well in a smaller herd and appreciates a predictable routine. Sahara is on a weight loss journey and would do best in a home on a dry lot. Sweet Sahara is very pleasant company and is ready to join your family!

Bio: Scooby is ready to find a loving non-riding home. This kind horse has some special needs when it comes to his care, however, he will fill your life with lots of laughs and is the sweetest soul. Come meet Scooby!! Requires front shoes and pads.

She’s built a lovely foundation in her groundwork and enjoys learning, but we’ve discovered that a non-riding future will be the best fit for her. Sparrow is now seeking a home where she can shine as a cherished companion. She is easy to handle, polite for the farrier, and truly thrives with consistent, kind interaction. This bright young mare will make a wonderful partner for anyone looking to add a sweet, steady presence to their herd.

Bio: Leggy young Thoroughbred with an endearing personality! Swift has been a delight to be around ever since his little hooves set down at CHR. Since then, he has grown by leaps and bounds both physically and mentally. Curious and eager to please, Swift picks things up quickly and already has a nice manner on the ground. Swift is just getting started under saddle and is already a natural. If you're looking for a young, well minded Thoroughbred to train up -- this could be your match!

Bio: Sky is the limit for this adorable pony! Taco loves liberty work and learning tricks. He is thriving under saddle after gaining a refresher in training, and has even started popping over some small cross rails. Taco went through a rehabilitation program at CHR upon arrival, working through lameness in his front feet due to poor hoof care and nutrition. Now, Taco is strong and sound and ready to take on the world! He does require a wedged shoe with pads on his front feet. With good care, he is sound under saddle and living in a large pasture.

Bio: Vanya is calm, gentle, and thoughtful, with a sweet and patient nature. She was born with a spinal defect, which means she **cannot be ridden**, but she has a great quality of life as a non-riding horse and would make an **amazing companion to both horses and people**. On the ground, Vanya is an absolute dream. She’s easy to catch, polite, and attentive to her handler. She is easy going with other horses, and enjoys kicking up her heels out in her shared pasture. Vanya is ready for a loving home where she can enjoy turnout, grooming, and leisurely walks with her favorite person.
