The issue is real. The numbers are staggering. YOU can make a difference. There are an estimated 120,000 unwanted horses in the U.S., and rescues can’t support them all. Our foster program pairs horses in need with individuals and families who have space and care to spare.
CHR typically fosters out non-rideable companion horses. Rideable horses stay at the Rescue so they are more easily visible during the adoption process.
1
PROVIDE CARE
Adhere to CHR’s Standards of Care, which include food, shelter, farrier care, medical attention and companionship.
2
ALLOW VISITS
Permit a CHR representative to conduct a site visit prior to approval of the foster home, and then again at CHR’s discretion.
3
BUILD A BOND
Embrace and enjoy the companionship of your new foster horse. Their love and gratitude are priceless rewards for your generosity.
We understand the commitment that a horse requires. If you’re not quite ready to foster, sponsorship is a great in-between option.
