It isn’t every day that we receive an inquiry from someone wanting to give a home to a group of retired horses in need. That’s why when we heard that the family of a long-time CHR volunteer had built their Arizona ranch with the goal of providing a loving last home to senior horses, we were determined to make it work!
Transporting senior or special needs horses can be a tricky business as there is a lot to take into consideration. Physical appropriateness for this length of travel, behaviors that may make transportation a challenge, dynamics between the horses, etc. Thankfully, we were able to find the right group of four horses to travel to Arizona as Resting Horse Ranch’s first residents. We are so thankful to adopters and owners of the ranch, Shawn and Craig, for their passion for these deserving horses and for their willingness to partner with CHR to make their dream a reality.
Of the four horses heading to Arizona (Maverick, Clover, Cody, and Frosty), Clover is the longest standing CHR resident. Clover has been searching for a home for over 3 years, and when Shawn and Craig met her, something just clicked. It was clear from their first meeting that she would be one of the horses to find her forever home at Resting Horse Ranch.
Thank you to Resting Horse Ranch for taking on these four special horses! We can’t wait for the updates to come on their new journey as Arizona retirees.
