CHR’s Leg Up Program

Helping Those Affected by Colorado Fires

The recent fires in Colorado have deeply impacted our community. At Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR), we understand that hardship doesn’t discriminate, and even the most devoted horse owners may need assistance. Our Leg Up Program is here to provide that support.

Fire

Fill the Gaps. Close the Cracks.

The Leg Up Program offers short-term financial assistance to horse owners facing temporary financial strain due to various hardships, including natural disasters, job loss, illness, injury, or a death in the family. Our goal is to ensure no horse falls through the cracks and goes without essential care during these challenging times.

What Does the Leg Up Program Cover?

  • Day-to-Day Feeding and Basic Care: Essential nutrition and daily care.
  • Emergency Veterinary Care: Urgent medical needs.
  • Gelding Services: Costs associated with gelding.
  • Euthanasia Services: Compassionate assistance for end-of-life decisions.

How It Works

Qualified applicants will have relief funds sent directly to their equine service providers, ensuring the assistance is used where it’s needed most. No funds are forwarded to the horse owner. For situations requiring more than short-term aid, please explore our rehoming options.

Standing Together

The fires have highlighted the importance of community support. At CHR, we are committed to helping horse owners keep their equine companions safe and well-cared for during these difficult times.
