We are thrilled to introduce our newest team member, Caleigh Calhoun, who has joined Colorado Horse Rescue as an equine trainer! With a lifelong passion for horses and nearly two decades of riding experience, Caleigh brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to the rescue, enriching the lives of our horses and furthering our mission of finding every horse a safe and loving home.
Caleigh’s equestrian journey began in New Jersey, where she built a strong foundation in English disciplines like jumping and dressage. After relocating to Colorado in 2019, she expanded her expertise to include ranch riding, equitation, colt starting, reining, working as a polo groom, roping, and natural horsemanship. Her commitment to understanding animal behavior, combined with her ability to work across such varied disciplines, makes her a perfect fit for our rescue.
Though she’s only been with us full-time for a couple months, Caleigh has already made a positive impact. One of her favorite horses to work with is Hendrix, thanks to their shared reining background. She’s also been spending time with our younger horses, especially Aries, who is thriving under her guidance in the round pen. And let’s not forget the five minis that she helped prepare for the farrier. Caleigh’s attention to detail and care shines through in everything she does.
Outside of her time at the barn, Caleigh has a love for photography, art, and fishing. She also treasures spending time with her cat, Violet.
We are excited to see how Caleigh continues to grow with us and make a difference for the horses at Colorado Horse Rescue. Welcome to the team, Caleigh!
