AIMEE (CL)

AIMEE (CL)

Category: Non-Riding Companion
Age: 19
Gender: Mare

Breed: Grade

Bio: Aimee is extremely dear to us. She was a last chance horse given to my 8 year old daughter 2 1/2 years ago so she could continue with her horsemanship skills and develop into a stronger rider. It’s the first horse she has owned and paid for. Aimee came to us older and with a preexisting rodeo injury in her right knee. She rode her for 3 seasons in our churches Gymkhana series. We were told by others and a vet to butte her if she wished to continue riding, which we do not agree with so we have used other holistic methods during our ownership with her to treat her knee when feeling sore. My daughter has out grown Aimee’s abilities for riding and she has had a long life and worked hard. Lola would like her to find a home where she could be a companion to another horse or family. Although she can no longer charge the gate she is still suitable for being ponied, worked in a round pen, a beginner therapy horse or lead lined while moving cattle. She would be great for a under 14 rider to learn the love and bonding of having a horse. Lola’s worst fear is the sales barn. We will keep her until we can find a good new fit for her to spend the latter of years.

Angel has been diagnosed with Cushings and is on cabergoline. She also has chronic (age related) diarrhea that periodically comes and goes. She is on Platinum Balance Pro-Biotic. She has great feet and can go barefoot year-round. She is up to date on veterinary, dental and hoof care. Angel will come with 2 pony sized winter blankets. Category: Non-Riding Companion
Age: 4

Height: 14.3

Breed: Arabian

Bio: Astrea ("Fallen Star") is a special little Arabian horse who came out of a rescue situation severely malnourished and unhandled. She is currently at a boarding barn and learning all the basics of human contact, leading, grooming, going for walks around the property, having her feet trimmed, and light work on the ground. She greets me at the gate now when she sees me pulling up, expecting good things. Oh, and she hoards all the other horses toys! (Not sure how they end up in her pen, but they do). Due to a congenital condition of her hind legs she is unable to be ridden, but at only 5 years old, she deserves a great life ahead of her. Complete Vet work up is available for review. Aster will need an experienced adopter who can continue helping her build her social skills. Located on the Western Slope. Adoption fee will go towards trailering costs to the right home.

BAYBEE (CL)

BAYBEE (CL)

Category: Riding
Age: 17
Gender: Mare
Height: 15

Breed: Missouri Foxtrotter

Bio: Baybee is a beautiful Bay Foxtrotted with excellent papers and even better disposition. Baybee came to us from a rider outside of Penrose, Colorado six years ago. She came to live with my wife and I and our other three horses up in Conifer, Colorado. We also have a place in Fairplay where Baybee spends summers and fall’s up in the high mountains. She is highly trained and responsive to gentle commands. Her gait is smooth especially when she walks into her foxtrot. Baybee has a great disposition. She stands very well for the farrier and the vet. She gets along well with other horses and never fights or quarrels with them. She is meant to ride trails and enjoys walking out. A few years ago Baybee developed arthritis in her sacrum. She was worked on by a skilled Vet who did acupuncture and chiropractic work. It soon became clear that Baybee would need a smaller rider than me. I’m 6’0 165 lbs. She needs a much smaller rider, possibly child rider, who has intermediate to advanced skills. Baybee would also make a great pasture mate for a lonely horse. I’m wanting Baybee to go to a great home that would love her as a friend, companion, and a gentle ride.

Bio: Hi! My name is Carrie and I am looking for my retirement home. I have worked in just about every setting, ranch, 4-H, and lastly therapeutic riding. I am an old lady with an old back injury and arthritis in about every joint and my current job can no longer feel it is good for me to take kiddos on rides. After I stopped giving therapeutic rides I tried to be a horse that taught kiddos how to brush and tack but really I just want to hang in my stall or pasture with a good buddy and have one human to call my own. I am a sweet soul that just wants to hang out, currently, my favorite stall mate won't hang with me in the pasture because he is young and wants to run and play with the many other horses. I am looking for a home where I can be loved by one family, have a friend, and maybe pack a small kiddo around bareback for a while. I do have bedsores that are healed now but I like to have my boots put on at night to keep them away. If you want to know more about me give my work a call, they love me but know this is not the right place for me to spend the remainder of my years. I hope I can meet you soon!

JAX (CL)

JAX (CL)

Age: 20

Breed: Paint

Bio: Jax- 20 yo registered black and white paint gelding. He is well trained and handy to ride. Jax is quiet and kind for a beginner at the walk or on lead line. At the trot and above he likes to go so would be better suited for an intermediate or above level rider. He was used as a rodeo head horse before I got him. He is very used to having a rope swung off of him. He is also unfazed by polo mallet, polocrosse or bow and arrow. I have used him for mounted archery. He does not mind the sound and movement of mounted archery. He is fabulous on trail rides and will go all day. He can go out alone or in a group. He benefits from front shoes in the summer, and would need shoes all the way around if ridden in rocky terrain. His hoof walls tend to break off in dry summer weather and on rocky ground. He does have some arthritis in his legs from his rodeo days, so hard riding with lots of hard stops and turns would not suit him. He is cinchy when saddled, but treats or allowing him to graze while tightening the girth, as well as taking your time and tightening very slowly have worked wonders for him. He is up to date on veterinary, dental and hoof care. He is a very sweet boy and I will only part with him to a good home. $2,000 adoption fee.

Age: 23

Bio: Lady- 23yo registered Arabian mare. Lady is a very personable and sweet horse. She takes a while to warm up to her people, but once she trusts you she is very friendly. She was used as a brood mare most of her life and has not had much training. While she does not know the riding aids well, she is very quiet, almost lazy to ride. With a little training, she would be a stellar riding horse. She is great on trails and in the arena. She does get very attached to her heard mates and would be difficult for a beginner rider to ride away from her horse friends. If she rides out with her horse friends, she can be trusted with a beginner. She is so mellow and quiet on trails with her horse buddy, I have ponied 4yo kids on her. As long as she is near her buddy, she can be ridden by a beginner. She has good feet and can go barefoot all year round. She is a very easy keeper and has foundered once while I have had her when she was left on grass for too long. She would do best in a situation where her feed can be limited. $1000 rehoming fee.

Category: Unstarted
Age: 13
Gender: Gelding
Height: TBD

Breed: Quarter Horse

Bio: My name is Ragnar and I am indeed a warrior horse. My previous life was as a bucking horse on the rodeo circuit until I got smart and quit bucking. I was fired from that job and ended up at the auction as a throw away horse. CHR, lucky for me, was there that day, bought me, and brought me to the rescue. I'm losing my fear of people but still tend to overreact to almost anything and everything. Patience and talent will be needed by my adopter. Resources and more than one trainer may be needed - but they think I'm worth all the effort and I couldn't agree more!

Handler Experience: Trainer - Has an advanced skill set plus several years of experience in successfully teaching multiple types of green horses.
