Bio: Amira in some languages translates to "princess." I'd like to be somebody's princess in the future, but I've got a lot of trust issues. I'm making remarkable progress, so they tell me, and my best match will need to be an adopter with patience to spare, a tool box with the lid open, and other training resources when he or she hits a tough spot in my training. Fortunately, I'm young in age with beauty to spare and a desire to connect with humans...no health or maintenance special needs.

Bio: Arwen (was Ginger) first arrived on September 3rd, 2022. I was told by the lady who delivered her that Arwen was a barrel horse and people were still riding her while she was extremely thin. I haven't tried riding her so I'm unsure if she's ridable. I had her seen by a vet who examined her and said she was around 23 years old. They were floating her teeth when they discovered she's missing teeth and had a very loose molar that they pulled out. Due to Arwen's dental issues she isn't able to eat hay and is only able to eat mush. So, I've been feeding her hay pellets, alfalfa pellets, senior feed, Manna Pro Senior weight accelerator powder, and beet pellets mixed with some corn oil and soaked with water until it's a mush. She has since gained weight and looks so much better than when she 1st arrived. I was originally planning to keep her, but I'm trying to keep up with the feed bill. I've been trying to find a home that has experience with special needs horses and give her the life she deserves.

Bio: She’s a beautiful 4-year-old Quarter Horse! She has a compromised pelvis, so she cannot be bred or ridden. She is the sweetest girl! She’s so loving and loves being pet and snuggled! She loves water! She is smart and isn’t reactive in odd situations! She’s beautiful, she’s considered a grey, but has a strawberry roan look up close! She’s an easy keeper! She’s honestly just the sweetest! I need to find her a new home that can give her all the love she needs we just don’t have the room or pasture for a horse that cannot be worked.

Bio: Dark bay gelding, 14 years old, friendly and willing. Has old injury on right hock so is only able to work about 30 minutes with a light rider at a walk. Vet X-rays available. Has worked real well with my inexperienced granddaughter. We give him Equioxx once a day. He runs, bucks and plays with the other horses in the field without apparent discomfort. Cannot tolerate adult weight for more than 10-20 minutes before showing lameness. Excellent in ground work.

Bio: I purchased Bud about 3 years ago for riding and pulling a cart. He’s well versed in both. He fell head over hooves for my mare, Lola, and follows her every command. He recently is struggling with founder. Our neighbor decided to grow it and now we’re inundated with it. Every time we let Bud graze even with a muzzle on, he founders. I also have a husband with dementia and I have a bad back and at our age, keeping this lovely little horse is too much. He is about 13 hands, a chunkier, smart as a whip and a complete clown. Super sweet and learns fast. I’m hoping he can ride or pull again when he recovers. He has a 3% rotation on the right and nothing measurable on the left. I can give his harness to the new owner and would consider the cart as well. He’s a really great little horse and deserves a home where 2 older people aren’t hobbled by caring for him. Thanks for looking.

Bio: Dolly is a 2001 QH mare with excellent bloodlines. She is a beautiful girl and when she trusts you, is great on the ground. I got the mare as a rescue situation as she was headed for slaughter. She is totally sound, and beautiful, good on the ground, but unfortunately at 22 she really isn't interested in being ridden. The time it would take to possibly get her back to being a riding horse I just don't have. I really do love her and want to make sure she is able to live a safe and happy retirement. Bio: Dream is a sweet mare. She has had training in the past and was a trail horse. I bought her in 2015. The person I bought her from was going to use her for barrel racing, but it didn’t work out. At that time a 7 yr old could catch, bridle, and ride her. She is an easy keeper. She did become over weight at one time and the Veternarian said don’t give her grain. She said to give her Triple Crown Low Starch - Has All Vitamins & Minerals in it that she needs. Give 1-2 Lbs a day. She gets Orchard Or Timothy Grass Hay. No Alfalfa. Give 2 flakes hay in morning and 2 flakes at night in winter. If real cold, like 10 below, can give extra flake of hay. This is my first horse. I do not have the experience, or a round pen to work with her, or someone to mentor me. So she has not been worked with for several years. She has only been ridden a few times since I have had her. She has never bucked me when I was on her or standing behind her. She would walk up gently to my 2 yr old Grandson. She has become barn sour and makes a game of catching her and when ridden on the country back roads wants to head back home. The only way I can halter her is when she is eating. She has been my only horse since I have had her, so she is lonely for other horse companionship. I have a neighbor who has other horses and I let her go down there for horse companionship and these people were going to work with her. She was there 6 months and I would visit her. I told them not to work with her until she bonded with them, as she has not been worked with for some time. They did not listen. The 1st week she was there she jumped the barbed wire fence and scratched her leg. She needs an experienced handler with a gentle approach and touch. She has not been worked with for 7 yrs. I believe she will listen to someone she develops a bond with. I am now elderly and am still working full time. I still do not have anyone who can help me with her. I enjoyed my time with her and I feel it is best to find a home for her with other horses and an experienced trainer, and someone who has more time to spend with her than I have.
If you can provide this for her, please reach out and contact me, CJ. Text or leave a message as I work nights. 719-659-8119. I do not check email often.

Bio: Otter is a 16 year old companion horse. He had a previous EPM diagnosis that resulted in neurological damage that makes him unsuitable to ride. He is an absolute doll - extremely sweet and mostly docile for a thoroughbred (he can be buddy sour/doesn't like being alone so those are the main times when you'll see his thoroughbred make an appearance). He will do just about anything for attention. He has the most luxurious mane I've ever seen on a horse. Otter is 16h & the neurological damage has resulted in some atrophied muscles that make him appear slender. He is safe to be around but typically becomes a tad unstable on his own at the canter and sometimes the trot - often tripping but usually able to catch himself. He's totally safe at a walk or a stand. We've had him as a companion horse for several years now & we've never had any issues at all with his balance during farrier trims either.

Bio: My name is Ragnar and I am indeed a warrior horse. My previous life was as a bucking horse on the rodeo circuit until I got smart and quit bucking. I was fired from that job and ended up at the auction as a throw away horse. CHR, lucky for me, was there that day, bought me, and brought me to the rescue. I'm losing my fear of people but still tend to overreact to almost anything and everything. Patience and talent will be needed by my adopter. Resources and more than one trainer may be needed - but they think I'm worth all the effort and I couldn't agree more!

Bio: Ruff Cut is currently being well cared for at an equestrian center in Littleton. He is up to date on vaccinations, teeth and farrier visits. He was used in our lesson program for a few years. Ruff Cut is a big boy at 16 hands. He has a back issue that makes him sore when ridden. He is great with ground manners. He well trained and is possibly ridable depending on his back, but hasn't been working for over 2 years so he would need some work and a tune up. Ruff Cut needs a new home with someone who has time to give him the attention he deserves.

Bio: Rusty would be a great horse for kiddos and more beginner handlers to gain confidence with. This gentle older gelding would be happy to tote kids around on a leadline, and is very respectful both on the ground and with someone on his back. Rust should primarily be a companion horse, however, this horse still has so much to give and teach his people.
Please reach out about Rusty understanding that he will require some special care as one of our senior horses.
Handler Experience: Companion/Beginner - Just starting to learn how to catch, halter, and lead a horse. Understands that a horse's subtle changes in posture provide important clues as to what the horse is thinking.

Bio: Meet Sahara - This wonderful Arabian mare is highly spirited and a blast to ride for an experienced and confident handler. She likes to be asked rather than forcibly told to do something. When she partners with you and you come to know her, she will jump through hoops (figuratively) to please you. Best matched to someone who is keeping horses at their home in a smaller herd environment.
Handler Experience: Advanced - Able to read subtle cues from a horse on the ground and in the saddle. Can handle and correct frequent or severe spooking or misbehaving under saddle and on the ground.

Bio: Sally is a 15yo Sorrel/Liver grade mare. Due to some arthritis, she would be best in a light riding home with an intermediate rider and handler. I have put two kids on her, my granddaughter who is 2 rode her bareback with one leading and one holding her, and Sally was perfectly calm. Also, an 11 yo intermediate rider, and again Sally was very calm and well behaved. I bought her over 1.5 years ago to be a trail horse, but I have not had the time to work with her that she needs. I ride her and work with her about once per week in my arena and on the trails and dirt roads around my neighborhood, as I have had trouble with her loading in the trailer. She has never bucked, crow hopped to anything like that, and is fun to ride as she is responsive and moves out nicely. She had an accident while being tied, so I usually put her on a blocker tie, but she is best ground tied, which I have been training her to do and she does pretty well! I sincerely believe that she would really come a long way if she were given the proper attention and training that she deserves, 3-4 times per week would be great for her. She loves attention and comes to me from the pasture, she's easy for me to catch, groom, saddle, loves to go for a hand walk down the road. Doesn't spook at cars, or dogs. I ride my atv around her all the time, and there are trucks, cars and motorcycles going by regularly, as well as low flying airplanes, so she's used to many noises. She really is a sweet sweet horse that just needs the right owner, one who wants to ride casually, and enjoys training and seeing the progress come along. Someone who has some experience, is patient and has a good way with natural horsemanship. She is not dominant here, as my gelding is pretty much the king around her, she got along with him from the first minute I put them together.
