Enhance your education at CHR with hands-on internship opportunities in horse training, equine management and nonprofit operations.
We are proud to partner with Colorado State University to facilitate equine training internships for motivated college students seeking hands-on experience with a diverse herd of horses.
This internship offers students the experience of working in all areas of a horse rescue while developing their skills in equine handling. Interns partner with CHR horses and receive 1-on-1 mentorship by CHR head trainer Sarah Hofkamp in the techniques of Natural Horsemanship and R+/- (Positive Reinforcement/Negative Reinforcement). Note: internship is unpaid.
Applications accepted on a rolling schedule.

COURSEWORK
Must have completed one or both of the following courses at CSU: Horse Training & Sales Preparation I & II and/or Right Horse Training Class. If applicant is not a CSU student, they must have horse experience equivalent to what is provided in these courses.

ATTITUDE
Must have a positive attitude and an open mindset toward new and innovative training techniques.

APPROACH
Must work well with others, take instruction well and respect safety guidelines.
