Bio: Sundance is a sweet, beautiful palomino gelding, about 15-16 years old. I rescued him 2 1/2 years ago to become my solo horse, mostly for trail riding. He had been mistreated and neglected, and was at a rescue facility that was caring for him. Though he had been trained some and had been ridden, he was untrusting of people, scared of the halter, and terrified of a saddle, fly spray, farrier, etc. Since I've worked with him he is now good with all of that. He has great ground manners, and loves people. He is the first horse to come up from the pasture with a sweet nicker when he sees me, and the first to go up to anyone who comes into the pasture. Unfortunately, I found out after a several months that the reason he was giving previous owners a hard time is that he has a bit of kissing spine and little navicular. But I wasn't going to give up on him. I've spent the last two years and LOTS of money trying to get him comfortable enough to be ridden, but I can't get him there. He is a happy, healthy, active, beautiful boy out in the pasture on the soft ground and without a rider, but soon as you get on you can tell he's sore. I can only afford one horse, and for my own therapy, it needs to be a horse I can ride. I love Sundance and have tried everything I can to get him sound, but to no avail. So it's time to find him a wonderful, comfortable, pasture retirement home, where he can be loved and cared for, and have human and horsey friends... but not be ridden. He is my boy, a huge piece of my heart, and I will be very picky about where he goes. I believe the perfect home is out there for him. Maybe it's with you?
