Bio: Hello everyone, meet Billy Ray! I met Billy Ray 3 years ago when he was struggling in a lesson program and brought him home to provide him more training to be a trail horse. Along this training journey I discovered Billy Ray has kissing spines and cannot be ridden. This has likely been the cause behind him having so many homes throughout his life before I met him. He is now pain free and retired from riding! Billy Ray is currently healthy and happy in a retirement pasture, however I believe would be happier with more interaction and enrichment than I can provide to him (I live in metro Denver and have a new job with increasing demands). He has two years of professional groundwork training and is a very attuned, social horse. I believe these strengths would not only make him a great companion horse but would also make him a fantastic therapy horse for non-mounted modalities, like equine assisted psychotherapy or EMDR. He is the barn favorite wherever he goes due to his sweet, curious nature and he loves both people and other horses. Billy Ray's vet has recommended stretching and keeping up his topline strength to support his kissing spines, but no additional treatment is needed for him to be comfortable. He is barefoot and has amazing feet. He is not on any grain, medications, nor supplements. He is happy living in a stall with turnout or in a pasture. He has developing arthritis and might need daily or winter equioxx in the future if he is getting frequent exercise in a therapy program. He wears a fly mask to protect his eyes from UV rays and dust. I am looking to re-home him to an excellent fit-someone who could provide him with more enrichment and a safe forever home.
