Colorado Horse Rescue Launches HorseAlert

to Facilitate Safer, More Efficient Horse Evacuations

LONGMONT, Colo. (April 24, 2024) – Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR) today announced it has launched HorseAlert (www.horsealert.org), a revolutionary, free, community-based equine evacuation system. HorseAlert is designed to streamline the process of moving horses during natural disasters, saving more lives.

“We are proud to introduce HorseAlert, the leading-edge solution that aids in safely evacuating horses, reducing congestion for emergency responders and other evacuees during such critical times,” said CHR CEO Katherine Gregory. “This service prioritizes the safety and well-being of all involved and addresses a much-need solution to the community.”

HorseAlert functions similarly to a rideshare app but is tailored for emergency horse transportation. The platform connects Colorado residents needing urgent equine evacuation with nearby volunteer drivers with the appropriate skills and equipment, ensuring efficient resource deployment during natural disasters.

This new solution is essential given the rise in frequency and intensity of natural disasters across Colorado. Thanks to the collaborative efforts with Initial Capacity, a Boulder-based software consultancy, and generous funding from the Zarpet Family Foundation, HorseAlert is free of charge to Coloradans and promises to be an innovative solution for safe evacuation.
